May the "Force" be with you my friend ...
I would be just happy to click 122+ with the Alfa If I get a good momentum. This is on of the few track I can get the car to meet red line in 5th gear (not overdrive). Unlike some recently built cars, I do not have governator ...

then again it's not just top speed that counts... cojones helps too!

We ran my Evo on the dyno.. 147 top speed. I'll be dinging the limiter for sure.. especially if it's snowing.

FYI, the only reason I won't be able to go faster than 190mph is because that's where the rev limiter will cut in, in 6th gear. If I had a 7th gear, I could hit about 240mph no problem.

For the record, the track is saying it might be a bit wet one of the two days, but we're on for Raj's 190 mph on the back straight.

Will the person who has the club radar gun and display unit be bringing it to the Glen? Settint it up on the school day is a great learning tool. It allows you to try different lines in the corner leading onto the longest straight. COM has become very indifferent to using this piece of equip. The members paid lots of good money for this and Herb DeSilva spent a lot of time rebuilding the speed display for it to sit in someone's attic.

Looking better. Web cams of lake look nice, webcam at college in Ithaca shows 2-3" on ground but people walking around in light coats...

BMWCCA cancelled their Friday, Sat and Sun event.
http://www.boston-bmwcca.org/events/ult ... ventID=315
"4/18/2007 - Watkins Glen has informed us that there are 3' snow drifts around the track, so we are forced to cancel this event. People who applied will be sent a refund."

No kidding. I know it's only Wednesday but what are the chances that they can get the track cleared with the decent forecast dinoracer posted above? has anyone from the BoD talked to the track officials? I'm leaving first thing Saturday morning so I'd like to know asap whether I have to load the car on to the trailer or if I can just take the wife-mobile for the weekend. (We're having my son's Christening in Rochester, NY on Sunday so I need to go to New York regardless.)

I talk with the track almost twice a day now. As of today, 4/18, the WGI event is still on. The concern is snow drifts and run off areas. Blowing snow across the track and R-compounds generally don't mix. R-compounds and snowy/icy run-off areas don't mix either.
The track itself is clear today. We're closely watching the run-off areas and blowing drifts.
The board will make a determination Friday morning, based on info from the track, if COM needs to do anything.
I'll repeat, at this point, this event is ON.

Just an FYI, the Boston BMW event for WGI this weekend (4/20-4/22) has been canceled. They where informed by the track that there where still 3' snow drifts around the track.
